Here are a number of pictures of sculpture of the old nursery rhyme—
“Hey diddle, diddle, the cat and the fiddle, the cow jumped over the moon, the little dog laughed to see such sport, and the dish ran away with the spoon!”
In MY version of the old rhyme, The Mad Purple Cow, doesn’t quite jump all the way over the Moon, in fact, the Mad Purple Cow, accidentally kicks the Moon in the forehead, making all the stars come out! Saturn seems very alarmed that the Mad Purple Cow is heading its way after kicking the Moon!
Pictured here are a number of flat steel studies I did on the topic as well as a large (19 ft across—5.5 meter) three dimensional steel scrap version for a private client’s garden in Winston-Salem, N.C.
First, the studies in steel and then the three dimensional pieces.
The Cat and the Fiddle—since fiddles are strung with “cat gut” this cat is using his own whiskers for fiddle strings!
